Wrapped inside the distinctive scenery of the Yorkshire Dales, The Coniston Hotel Country Estate & Spa in Skipton sits within a staggeringly beautiful country estate. With 1,400 acres of lush countryside right on the doorstep, this is a totally magical setting for outdoor adventures and relaxing breaks.

Since the 1960s, The Coniston Estate has belonged to the Bannister family and the historical Conison Hall stands on the banks of a glistening lake. Within the estate is the 71-bedroom hotel, an award-winning Spa, The Coniston Shooting Ground and the Coniston Off-Road Centre.

In addition to the shooting ground and the off-road centre, there are a number of other activities available at The Coniston Hotel Country Estate & Spa including fishing, cycling, walking and more. The 24 acre lake is fully stocked with brown trout, perfect for fly fishing, and there is also a 1.5 mile stretch of the River Aire that is available. Guests can hire boats to take out onto the lake.

The state-of-the-art Coniston Spa is perfected located above the lake, with views across the estate. Facilities include a 15m indoor swimming pool, thermal suite, gym, fitness studio, 8 spa treatment rooms, relaxation areas and a stunning outdoor infinity edge pool. In 2018, The Coniston Spa was awarded Best Country Retreat at the Good Spa Guide Awards.

The Coniston Hotel Country Estate & Spa in North Yorkshire caters for families, and there are pet friendly rooms available for guests who want to bring their four legged friend along. Many of the rooms boast phenomenal views of either the lake, estate or countryside beyond. But what is really noticeable here is the peace and quiet that takes you away from everyday life, letting you completely escape.

Dining is at the heart of The Coniston Hotel Country Estate & Spa with two restaurants to choose from. Macleod’s is the flagship restaurant and was awarded 2 AA Rosettes in November 2018. The menu is a reflection of the seasons, with a firm focus on local produce and seasonal produce from the estate. Huntsman’s Lodge boasts an incredible view across the lake – the terrace is an ideal location in the summer and in the colder months the iconic fireplace is lit in the centre of the restaurant.

The Hotel also has various meeting rooms, making it perfect for all occasions. Weddings at The Coniston have become a popular choice as it has one of the most romantic backdrops in the country and enough space to accommodate up to 120 guests for civil ceremonies.

Whatever your interests, you will find something you love with the award winning facilities at The Coniston Hotel and Country Estate. From weddings and corporate events, to off road experiences; the opportunities are endless.

There are two venues for dining at the hotel, each with its own style and charisma. Macleod’s Restaurant is elegant, bright and airy, with beamed ceiling and bar, where guests can enjoy faultless dishes from the A la Carte menu. Having been recently extended, the restaurant is also ideal for private dining with up to 60 guests.

Huntsman’s Lodge is a large open space with comfy chairs, bar and an open fire, which is the centrepiece of the room. The panoramas that can be seen from the window wall are just mind blowing, and you might even get to see one of the resident horses. The ha-ha wall allows for uninterrupted views and makes this a really special place to dine or enjoy a drink with friends.

Food at the Coniston Hotel is a real talking point, and with chefs who are passionate and creative, you can indulge in impressive dishes that have been lovingly prepared with local produce. The hotel is also frequently featured in food and drink programmes. Listen to Radio interviews with Gill Venning on The Food and Drink Show talking about open air dining at The Coniston.

With five meeting rooms, excellent facilities and acre upon acre of estate that plays host to a vast range of activities, The Coniston Hotel is a fantastic place for business meetings and team building events. Whether you want to motivate your colleagues with Segway, quad biking, clay pigeon shooting or rage buggies, you are sure to get the adrenalin pumping.
