A Royal Stay At Dalhousie Castle

Standing proudly against the luscious greenery of Edinburgh’s countryside; this red-brick, architectural phenomenon was a grand sight to behold after the car journey north. Boasting fairy-tale turrets and gorgeously manicured grounds; Dalhousie Castle has been brought to life, straight out of the history books.
Echoing its 700 year history, Dalhousie Castle is immaculately dressed in antique luxury and regal décor. After checking in, Dalhousie Castle’s welcoming concierge escorted my partner and I towards our fabulous castle bedroom.
Nestled within the grandiose turret, the royal, red four-poster bed perfectly highlighted this gorgeous space. This fabulous room also featured a cosy living space and modern en-suite; joined together with a private corridor.
After setting down our luggage, we headed into The Orangery for our well-deserved afternoon tea! Overlooking the wild Scottish grounds surrounding Dalhousie Castle; this conservatory-style restaurant was the perfect place to enjoy the countryside views with the delicious sweet treat accompaniment. After a little siesta on the memory-foam, king-sized bed; my partner and I excitedly hurried downstairs into their renowned Dungeon Restaurant to experience the award-winning dining.

Adorned with suits of Scottish and English armour and weaponry; this unique restaurant and dining experience was the highlight of our stay. Stone walls and candle lighting set the mood for this incredible, barrel-vaulted Dungeon Restaurant, where guests may enjoy the divinity of traditional Scottish dishes, created by Head Chef Francois Giraud – who also adds a little French twist into each dish. Each of our three, mouth-watering courses in The Dungeon Restaurant tasted exquisite; delicately mingling each divine flavour. From the Beef Carpaccio, to the Rabbit Medallion and the Iced Raspberry Parfait; my dining experience was phenomenal from start to finish, perfected by the lovely and attentive staff.
After awakening from an incredible night’s sleep, I finally managed to arise and get ready to head back down to The Orangery for a rejuvenating, full Scottish breakfast.
After we checked out, I immediately wanted to book an additional night at this incredible castle hotel. Fortunately, an early departure meant we could explore a little more of Scotland’s highlights within and beyond Edinburgh!
