Most Unusual Places to Stay in the UK
5th June 2014
These days, in order to stand out from the crowd, you need to do something a little bit different. There are so many hotels out there that offer luxurious stays, but there are occasions when you’re just looking for something unique. So I have searched to find you the most unusual places to stay in the UK, obviously with those special little Crisp White Sheets touches.
Personally, I want a place that goes that extra mile and grabs my attention by appealing to my eccentric side. A place where I breathe ‘wow’ when I enter, and where I want to immediately go and tell people about this fantastic place that I’ve found.
One of the best things about treating yourself to a few nights away is feeling that you’re taking an adventure out of your ordinary routine. A stylish adventure might be a better phrase, for those of you who have a taste for the original, the unusual and the flawlessly designed. Hotels don’t have to be completely wacky to be deemed as unusual places to stay, something as subtle as a colour scheme or a location could take your breath away. It’s these quirky features that make the hotel stand out and make you want to pass their secret on.
Most of these places have to be seen to be believed, often just reading about them doesn’t do them justice. So find something to spark your imagination and discover where we have selected as the most unusual places to stay in the UK.
Hard Days Night Hotel, Liverpool
The only Beatles themed hotel in the world, and what better location than where it all started in Liverpool? Individually designed and themed hotel rooms adorned with one-of-a-kind Beatles artwork makes this hotel tasteful yet extraordinary. Described as the Hard Rock Cafe but dedicated to the Beatles, this iconic and stylish hotel is for the rock ‘n’ roll god in you!
Pencalenick House, Fowey
An architectural phenomenon! Literally carved into the hillside, this hotel is reminiscent of a modern hobbit hole. With floor-to-ceiling windows, private beach, dedicated chef and use of a private yacht, you will feel like you’ve hit the jackpot here. Fully camouflaged, Pancalenick house is definitely something modern and different – and unashamedly so!
Hammet House, Pembrokshire
Driving up to the entrance of this grand and historic country hotel, you would assume there is nothing unusual about staying here. Until you walk inside to the ultra modern interior. A cool and contemporary design, with flashes of vivid colour and even Banksy artwork definitely makes you appreciate the phrase “don’t judge a book by its cover”.
The Outbuildings, Anglesey
A collection of individual guest buildings with the most amazing views of the countryside and Snowdonia. Each room is impeccably designed with a contemporary and modern vibe, including a quirky pink shepherds hut. One of the things that makes this hotel unusual is the option of hiring Huey, the vintage VW campervan! Fully complete with double bed, kitchen and central heating, what better way to go sightseeing around Wales?
