On the shores of Ullswater and set in 18 acres of Lake District national park, Another Place is a home from home. It’s all about being active, getting outdoors, then relaxing, eating and drinking well with friends and family back indoors.
Most of the 47 bedrooms show off the fell and lake views, combine modern design with vintage features, and give a nod to the building’s Georgian heritage. The restaurants and Swim Club have also been carefully considered to embrace the views surrounding them.
Swim Club is a contemporary take on a spa. A collection of secluded spaces, with a hot tub, sauna, cardio room, treatment rooms, and a 20-metre indoor pool that looks out onto the fells and brings the outdoors inside.
Guests will find wonderful spaces to take time out throughout the hotel. Cosy up with a good book by the crackling fire in the library, soak up the scenery from the terrace and enjoy something eat, or grab a blanket and a coffee from the entrance hall and head outside where you can relax among the fells.
Food and drink is right at the heart of Another Place. From casual and laid back Lake views in The Living Space restaurant to the open kitchen serving a three-course seasonal menu influenced by the flavours of the local landscape in Rampsbeck, to the new Victorian-style Glasshouse near the lakeshore. The Glasshouse serves woodfired pizza and hosts everything from feast nights to yoga classes and swim camps, to creative workshops.
Another Place, The Lake has most recently launched ‘Outside’: a collection of new rooms and spaces expanding its guest experience in a playful and imaginative way to give even more connection to the striking outdoor environment and active lifestyle that draws them there. ‘Outside’ includes six beautifully handcrafted oak and tin shepherd huts with stargazing roofs over freestanding double beds, with three suitable for couples and three suitable for families. It also includes a two-bedroom contemporary treehouse with floor-to-ceiling views of the lake and the new Victorian-style Glasshouse.
What we love about it here are the countless things to do right on the doorstep. So, whether you want to swim in the lake, hike through the fells or try your hand at paddle boarding, you will never be short of adventures. Plan your stay at one of the finest hotels in the Lake District.

Facilities
As well as providing you with the most stunning landscapes, Another Place ensure guests are totally looked after throughout their stay.
Food and Drink
Priding itself on sourcing the finest ingredients, The Living Space, Rampsbeck and the Glasshouse restaurants all deliver the delicious, imaginative, and hearty dishes.
The Living Space
Laid back and bright, this airy space has comfy sofas and tables for sharing food with friends and family. The bar leads onto an outdoor terrace, which overlooks Ullswater.
Rampsbeck Restaurant
Relax in front of the open kitchen and watch the drama unfold as inventive dishes are created to impress. The three-course menu includes dishes inspired from the Lakes. It showcases contemporary British cooking at its best – but with a global twist. Combining Cumbria’s finest ingredients with classical techniques and elevating them with international flavours, from beef fillet tataki to vodka-macerated watermelon with whipped feta and dukkah.
Rampsbeck is where breakfast is served each morning. From make-your-own waffles to a full cooked buffet breakfast.
The Glasshouse
The woodfired oven is a focal point and showcases their Italian chef’s pizza in four authentic flavours. The Glasshouse is positioned next to the vegetable patch with an outside terrace and panoramic views of the lake.
Swim Club
Taking a step outside of the norm, this alternative spa offers pockets of space perfect for escaping and unwinding. Take a dip in the hot tub, test out the sauna and cardio room or book in for a treatment. The 20 metre indoor swimming give the impression you are bathing among the landscape.
Things to do
There’s never shortage of things to do in the Lake District or during a stay at Another Place. If you enjoy adventure, try open water or cold water swimming with their resident swim expert colin Hill, they also run stand up paddleboarding, kayak and archery sessions. Or get out under your own steam and walk, hike and cycle in the fells. There’s even skiing in the winter months. Or if you prefer something a little more relaxing, book a cruise on the Ullswater Steamer, visit cultural and historic sites like Lowther Castle or the Reghed Centre or attend one of the many events that take place throughout the year including Kendal Calling or Keswick Mountain Festival.
