Fonab Castle, Pitlochry set for huge success

The magical experience of Fonab Castle, Pitlochry will begin when the eagerly anticipated grand opening takes place in May 2013.  Expected to achieve a prestigious five star status, the luxury hotel will bring a wealth of benefits to the local area, as well as to its lucky guests.

Ideally positioned overlooking Loch Faskally, the castle hotel offers beautiful views of the Scottish landscape – peaceful waters, rugged hills and enticing woodlands.  Its the perfect spot for a luxurious retreat from the stresses and strains of daily life, and Fonab Castle is certain to be an instant success.  The sumptuous accommodation, the excellent fine dining and the outstanding facilities will put Fonab Castle firmly on the map of Scotland’s finest luxury hotels.

Such a bright future is welcomed by the local community as the opening of the hotel will be an huge employment boost to the area.  A minimum of 70 jobs will be created and the impact on Scottish tourism is expected to be very positive.  The hotel’s establishment also ensures future care of the listed building which dates back to 1892 and is a valued part of the Highlands’ identity.

The appointment of Peter Sim, as the new General Manager for Fonab Castle is a major string to the luxury hotel’s bow.  Peter, who has won many Manager Gold Medals in the Scottish Hotel Awards, has a hugely successful career spanning 25 years in hospitality.  His previous posts include management at Mary Culter House Hotel in Aberdeen, Dunalastair Hotel (Kinloch Rannoch) and the Cuillin Hills Hotel on Skye.  With his considerable skill and extensive knowledge, Peter intends to share his passion for Scottish Whisky by transforming Fonab Castle into a popular destination for fans of single malt Scotch.

Fonab Castle is home to range of exquisite rooms, both in the castle itself and in a brand new contemporary lodge adjoining the main building, providing the glamour of contemporary style mixed perfectly with the historic atmosphere of the castle.  The flagship room features an enormous Victorian style brass bed, a high vaulted ceiling and chic glass studded wallpaper, whilst some of the lodge rooms boast private hot tubs.  Fonab Castle’s dining room is an elegant affair, with floor to ceiling glass walls providing stunning views of the Loch, with a grand piano providing a relaxing ambience.  The hotel will showcase the finest of Scottish cuisine, drawing on the very best of local produce to create dishes that are delivered with finesse and style.  Accompanied by Fonab Castle’s treasured selection of drinks, of course.

With further excellent facilities scheduled for completion later in the year, such as a luxury spa, a business conference centre and dog kennels, Fonab Castle has big plans.  The benefits to the local area and to the happy guests will be enormous, and with a talented team at helm, this enchanted castle hotel is well on its way to success.

” I heard about this place from a friend who raved about it, so I thought I would treat the missus to a weekend away. The food was excellent, the staff were polite and the room – well the wife loved it. A decent place to go for a romantic couple of days away.”
