Things to do in Aberdeen City and Shire

You may want to take a day trip to the Orkney Islands, which departs from John O’Groats.  Hop onto a ferry and once at your destination, step off into another world where you can visit a Neolithic village called Skara Brae, possibly one of the most visited of the Aberdeen attractions.  Whilst in Orkney, you can also visit the Italian Chapel or the Cathedral of St Magnus.

Out and About

For any adrenaline junkies looking for their next thrill, Cordonas Amusement Park is another of the popular Aberdeen attractions, which can be found on the esplanade.  It’s also a great place where families with children can find many things to do in Aberdeen during their hotel break.  For more outdoor activities, the vast countryside provides a perfect playground for paragliding, fishing, hiking and quad biking.  But if you have a real head for heights, you can spend a fun day at Go Ape! which is set in the midst of stunning castle grounds.

In winter, Aberdeen is a wonderful location for skiing, with Glenshee Ski Centre and Lecht 2090 Ski and Multi Activity Centre within easy reach, or in summer you can head for the all-weather slope at Aberdeen Snowsports Centre.

No stay in Aberdeen City and Shire would be complete without a visit to Union Street, the main shopping area in the city, which is lined by grand Victorian buildings.  You’ll find it difficult to resist the allure of stylish boutiques and trendy restaurants.
