Looking out across sprawling wooded valleys and patchwork fields on the Buckland Abbey’s historic estate in the Tamar Valley, StarBed Hideaways offers luxury glamping on the edge of Dartmoor National Park, only half an hour from the South Hams coast.
But this is glamping with a difference: these gorgeous wooden cabins are not only the first to stand on the National Trust Estate, they are also the first cabins with a glass ceiling. This simple, yet ingenious feature lets you enjoy incredible views of the starlit skies, making them just perfect for romantic weekend breaks. And because they are designed just for adults, you can flee to a totally peaceful setting for a couple’s retreat. We couldn’t think of anywhere more romantic to propose or to enjoy a honeymoon or anniversary.
Upon check in, you will be whisked away in an ex-military Supacat, along with your luggage, to your secluded shepherd’s hut. Prepare to be blown away by the most naturally beautiful setting and the rustic chic interiors of the cabins. Imagine French oak beds draped in the finest linens, elegant furniture, log burning stove and roll top baths that are lit to set the mood for romance.
If you wish to shut yourself off from the rest of the world and totally relax, the owners will cook for you so that you can wine and dine in your private retreat. There is also a Larder Shop on site, which sells a fabulous selection of drinks, artisan produce and freshly baked treats.
If you prefer to do a spot of exploring, there are countless woodland walks where you can discover local wildlife. Guests also receive complimentary access to the historic Buckland Abbey, once home to Sir Francis Drake.
There is so much that distinguishes StarBed Hideaways from other luxury glamping sites in the UK, from its idyllic location, to the bespoke, hand crafted interiors of the cabins.
Guests are advised to pack appropriate foot wear as there is a 10 minute walk over open farmland from their Hideaway to their parking.
