As you wind along the long, sweeping drive to the gatehouse, you are guaranteed to be enthralled by this magnificent place. Set within beautiful grounds and countryside, the distinctive Medieval style of Peckforton Castle hotel in Cheshire makes this a most enchanting place to stay.
Close to the village of Tarporley, the castle not only boasts an imposing facade, its striking interiors have earned it a prestigious reputation for being one of the best wedding hotels in the North West of England. Inside, Peckforton Castle has grand reception rooms, heavenly spa and luxurious bedrooms where guests can expect to find lavish bathrooms with roll top baths, romantic four poster beds and exposed brickwork. Reflecting its rich history, the rooms are beautifully designed, combining both modern luxury and traditional style.
Constructed in the 19th century by the Tollemache family, the castle was described in 1858 as being “the largest and most carefully and learnedly executed Gothic mansion of the present” by Sir George Gilbert Scott. During World War II, it became a children’s hostel, then a sought after set for numerous films and programmes. When the Naylor family bought Peckforton Castle in 2005, they turned it into the exquisite luxury hotel that it remains.
Children and adults alike are undoubtedly charmed by the hotel, with its magical ambience and exciting features to discover at every twist and turn. There are also countless activities for all ages to take part in, from laser clays and air rifle shooting, to Land Rover experiences and Segway. Peckforton Castle isn’t just about luxury, it offers fabulous adventures too.
