AA Hotel of The Year England 2016/2017

A sophisticated establishment that celebrates exquisite food and wine, Northcote in Langho is tucked away in the heart of the Ribble Valley and belongs to Relais & Chateaux.  Boasting a Michelin-starred, award winning team of well known chefs, a passion for local ingredients and a refined wine cellar, Northcote is a popular destination for food lovers who seek a refined dining experience in an elegant setting.

At the helm is Nigel Haworth, who has successfully retained a Michelin star since 1996 and became a celebrity in his own right when his main course of Lancashire Hotpot won BBC 2’s popular Great British Menu in 2009.  Nigel’s kitchen is led by another star of the Great British Menu 2010 in Head Chef Lisa Allen who ensures the quality and management of the kitchens under Nigel’s direction.  Hotel Director Craig Bancroft is responsible for the immaculate standards and the alluring wine collection and shares a love of food.  This passion for the ultimate dining experience has resulted in a host of awards including winner of the Lancashire Tourism Awards 2012 – 2013, bronze Award for Excellence from Visit England and a Certificate of Excellence for 2013 from Tripadvisor – as well as an ever growing reputation for being one of the finest places to eat in the North West.

Northcote currently boasts 18 luxurious rooms, with another eight in the fabulous Garden Lodge. Whilst Hotel Director Craig remains steadfast in his description of the venue as a ‘restaurant with rooms’, the accommodation – like everything else at Northcote in Langho- is little short of exceptional.  Designed exclusively by Jill Holst of Ward Robinson, the rooms are sumptuous, luscious and glamorous – the perfect complement to the outstanding dining experience.

Named after the renown champagne brand, the Louis Roederer room is one spacious area that can be readily divided into two private rooms, or used as one, alongside a private bar reception area.  Reflecting the glamorous image of the champagne house, it is styled with shimmering gold, elegant colours and luxurious textures, and will be perfected by a private champagne courtyard.  Here you will be able to savour one of Nigel Haworth’s famous gourmet experiences and the delights of a carefully chosen wine flight to create the idyllic way to celebrate your special occasion.

Competing with the private dining rooms on the glamour front is the newly styled Cocktail Bar.  Chic, exciting and full of glitz, it is the perfect place to relax over one of Northcote’s popular cocktails (Director Craig is especially proud of his own recipe, which comes highly recommended) and is exclusive to hotel guests.  The entrance has also been revamped to feature a contemporary and very striking seating area which is popular with guests for afternoon tea and after dinner drinks.  Historic windows dating back to when the Manor was first built in the late 1880s nestle harmoniously against the sharp modern lines of the new furniture and put Northcote in Langho firmly on the map of top luxury destinations.

The main dining room is resplendent with classic elegance – the perfect ambience for formal fine dining.  Views over the Ribble Valley, impeccable and knowledgeable service, along with the award winning cuisine create an unforgettable dining experience at Northcote in Langho.  Nigel Haworth’s cleverly devised tasting menu remains a firm favourite, along with Craig Bancroft’s cherished wine flights.  As a proud Lancashire lad, Nigel has made his name by championing the character of local dishes and reworking traditional flavours to Michelin standards.  Local, homegrown and organic ingredients are of critical importance to the team, and the enthusiastic restaurant staff explain each course carefully and with enthusiasm.  Nigel and Craig’s love for food and wine is undeniable, as is their desire that every guests samples as wide a range as possible of the culinary delights.
