Located in the picturesque English Lake District, just outside Windermere, you will find Gilpin Hotel and Lake House. The hotel is a wonderful combination of traditional and modern, with luxurious fabrics and stylish design.
The Cunliffe family turned Gilpin into a hotel back in 1988, where it started off with only 5 bedrooms. The Cunliffe family have a true passion for Gilpin, which has made it what it is today. It is a highly regarded country house hotel with award winning food and a very extensive wine list.
Head Chef Daniel Grigg creates some mouth-watering dishes, using local produce where he can. He joined Gilpin Hotel and Lake House in 2012 and had his 3 AA Rosettes confirmed, so Gilpin has now proudly held 3 Rosettes since 1997. The sommelier works hand in hand with him by matching fine wines to perfectly complement each dish.
At the hotel there have been various stages of expansion and extensions over the years, adding new bedrooms, garden room and new bar area. Fourteen of the twenty bedrooms lead directly onto the immaculate gardens, the Garden Suites all have contemporary design and a private hot tub, all rooms have lovely views. The grounds include a croquet lawn, which was originally a lawn tennis court. There are candle lit paths leading to different areas, including a Llama paddock, which can be somewhat surprising. There is a terrace where you can sit, relax and enjoy a glass of your favourite tipple. Features include ponds, waterfalls and beautiful plants and trees.
Just a mile away, Gilpin Lake House is quite literally a sanctuary. Just six suites enjoy exclusive access to 100 acres of private grounds, including a stunningly beautiful four-acre private lake, swimming pool and the fabulous Jetty Spa, Summer Room, kitchen gardens, boat house, Druid’s Circle, mature woodland, moorland, grassland and wild ponds.
A warm welcome is always received at Gilpin Hotel and Lake House and the service that follows is first class. Many people return to this special hotel year on year and you will have to try it to see why.
