Such an elegant place in a beautiful setting. Sadly the weather was pretty miserable when we arrived so we didn’t get chance to explore the area as we’d hoped but we were more than happy relaxing at the bar and eating in the restaurant. The food was incredible.

Overlooking the magnificent Chatsworth Estate, the views from this 250 year old coaching inn are simply jaw-dropping. The Cavendish Hotel in Baslow is one of the most welcoming hotels in the Peak District. With its grandiose rooms, sprawling gardens that lead to stately parkland, and fascinating history, this really is an extraordinary place where you will want to linger for longer.
The pale stone building is blessed with characterful nuances that make it all the more adorable and evoke a real sense of the past. Old stone flooring, original fireplaces and antique furniture are just some of the things you will find inside the Cavendish Hotel in Baslow. Although the hotel sits among quintessentially English countryside and has panoramas that will mesmorise you and lure you to fall in love, it retains an understated elegance. Whilst the hotel keeps it’s charm and historical routes, it also embraces very subtle mod cons such as wireless charging in the rooms and Tesla car chargers in the car park.
Originally the famous Peacock Inn once owned by the Duke of Rutland, the Cavendish Hotel in Baslow became the property of the Duke of Devonshire in 1830. In the early 1970s it was rebuilt and furnished with many items from Chatsworth House. A large collection of eclectic artwork, ranging from original paintings to more contemporary pieces, can be found adorning the walls of the Cavendish Hotel.
Within walking distance of Chatsworth House, the hotel boasts one of the best locations in the Peak District. For anyone looking for hotels near Chatsworth House, you won’t find anywhere quite as enchanting. Enjoy the gorgeous scenery as you stroll through the gardens to the kissing gate, where you can enter the Chatsworth Estate.
