The world most famous equestrian event, the Horse of the Year Show 2016 is a popular occasion for any lover of horses, with show jumping, lecture demonstrations and a whole host of displays. With 1,500 horses, 1,400 competitors and an estimated 65,000 spectators, there really is no horse show quite like this one.
Started in 1949 by Tony Collins, this fast became a highly established equestrian show and attracted thousands of horse fans from all over. This spectacular event is a chance for fans to get together to celebrate the horse whilst watching participants compete to win a rosette. Included in the attractions is dressage to music, show jumping and cross country, all under the same roof.
Show jumping isn’t the only attraction as the team at HOYS puts on a whole host of entertainment for all the visitors. One of the most popular attractions is the Pony Club Mounted Games. Six teams compete to win the Prince Philip Cup through challenges such as tack shop, bending, flag and mug and Pony Club Pole, all designed to test the determination and courage of both the horse and the challenger.
HOYS also puts on a whole host of displays and these include; the household Cavalry which is a military style performance, the Magali Delgado and Mandarin and lecture demonstrations.
Horses aren’t the only attraction here either as this indoor equestrian event has also become famous for its fantastic shopping facilities where you can take advantage of a huge retail villages featuring 250 shops. Horse demonstrations also take place within the shopping village so you can have a fun time shopping, whilst learning all about horses along the way.
