Set in one of Europe’s largest castle towns, Big Cheese Caerphilly 2016 is a spectacular festival which attracts over 80,000 visitors each year. Taking place between 30th – 31st July 2016, this is certainly an event you will not want to miss.
Celebrating its 19th year running, the Big Cheese Festival portrays the history, heritage and culture of Caerphilly, with a fun filled programme of performances and entertainment.
Activities include street entertainment, live history re-enactments, a traditional funfair, falconry, fire eating, minstrels and much more. Home to one of the biggest festival food and drink marquees in Wales, over 50 producers gather to sell their fares. Treat yourself to any of the homemade cakes, wines, cheeses, liquors and sweets that are on offer – there is sure to be something to tempt you. The event is also home to the Great Cheese Race in Caerphilly. Watch as people from all over the country run around with a block of cheese whilst in fancy dress – a truly hilarious sight.
