For the first time in history, the BNY Mellon Boat Race was joined by The Newton Women’s Boat Race in 2015. Thousands will attend the next event on the 7th April 2019 to watch Oxford and Cambridge Universities go head to to head at Henley-on-Thames. The race takes place between Putney and Mortlake in London and is one of the most popular and exciting events on the sporting calendar.
Starting in 1829, The Boat Race will celebrate its 162nd year and will continue to be one of the oldest sporting events in the world, which first began as a challenge between friends. It has now grown into one of the most prestigious events in the country.
Cambridge currently take the lead with 82 victories, while Oxford follow closely with 80 victories. There has only ever been one dead heat, in 1877.
